Julie Blackmon photos are strictly reminiscent of the steampunk era. She has a keen eye for compostion and the absurd in the everyday. She chronicles the lives of 30 somethings who are the hipsters that their baby boomer parents wish they had been.
Every photo brings the viewer on her knees as she tries to make since of the context.. the subjects, the furniture, the interior design and the color pallettes that are uber-ecclectic. As your eyes snan the picture your brain jumps tracks from the 20's to the 50's to the modern and back. She even throws a few of your grandmas gold curtains in to add a flair that will remind you of Sunday afternoons --without the musky smell of your Grandma's attic.
